I LIVED

Vivi, as I affectionately call my mother, is a tribute to her inner child and to all that remains alive within her through the passage of time.

The child carries her favorite animal, the dragonfly, a symbol of balance, transformation, and lightness. Through her, I imagine my mother reconnecting with that part of herself that once dreamed, played, and gazed at the world with wonder.

This artwork is also a way of telling her that that child is still there: free, curious, and capable of soaring.
