Exposición individual «Corazón que vuela», Kaş Sanat Evi (Kaş, Turquía, 2026).
This work was born as a deeply heartfelt tribute to Totó la Momposina, the eternal voice of our identity. It is a mystical celebration of her life, her legacy, and her transcendence beyond death; a recognition of the woman who transformed the songs of water and earth into the soul of an entire nation.
Guarding her figure emerge the caiman and the heron, two deeply emblematic animals of the Magdalena River. Together, they represent the duality of our land: the ancestral, untamed, earthly force of the water's depths, and the spiritual purity that spreads its wings to soar high, connecting the earthly plane with the immortality of her song.
A detail to look at closely: As you contemplate the work, I invite you to carefully examine the folds of her vibrant skirt. Camouflaged among the colors and texture of the canvas, you will discover handwritten titles of some of his most iconic songs, such as "Yo me llamo Cumbia", "El Pescador", "La Verdolaga" and "Prende la Vela", which become part of his own skin.
