ARCHITECTS OF MEMORY: PUERTO COLOMBIA STATION

This work originated as a profound and meticulous homage to the emblematic Bolívar Railway Station in Puerto Colombia, a historical epicenter that, in its golden age, witnessed the pulse of the world. Within its walls, train tickets were sold, initiating countless journeys; goods were received from distant corners of the earth; and the passports of thousands of souls seeking a new horizon were stamped. Intimately linked to the legendary pier, the station's architecture itself embodies a beautiful metaphor for resilience: originally built of wood, it was later clad with cement brought from Denmark to ensure its permanence.

In this universe, the past is not something rigid or forgotten, but a living structure tenderly reconstructed. It is a child with a hummingbird's head who builds the station, reminding us with his innocence that it is from the purity of childhood that we must safeguard our ancestral roots and design the foundations of our history.

A detail to look at closely
The dynamism of migration comes to life on the toy train tracks. If you look closely at the small train car, you'll discover passengers paying tribute to migrants from the Ottoman Empire, portrayed in great detail in their traditional clothing. Right at the station entrance, a charismatic Lego figure dressed in green stands out, waving enthusiastically; this endearing element pays direct homage to the current president of the Puerto Colombia Foundation, Hortensia Sánchez, recognizing her tireless work in safeguarding this sacred space.

Each building block and every small branch scattered on the ground reminds us that collective memory is a shared endeavor, built piece by piece.
