THE SWING OF MEMORY

During a conversation in Paris, an art historian friend posed an unexpected question: "If you were a piece of furniture, what would you be?"

Immediately, my mind traveled back to my roots, conjuring up images of those vibrant, woven rocking chairs found on the terraces of my homeland. For me, these objects breathe the deep calm and nostalgia of my childhood, lulled by the Caribbean breezes.

On the multicolored threads of this chair rests not a body, but a cumbia skirt with its emblematic red and white checkered pattern. It is a direct tribute to the Barranquilla Carnival, that festive and timeless stage where my grandmother danced, letting her movements infuse the surroundings with life, just like the endless swaying of a rocking chair.
