BREAD FOR THE GIRL

This piece pays homage to one of the purest, most everyday, and tangible connections to our land: food. Focusing on the flour we use to make our traditional arepas, the artwork is a warm embrace of memories of the kitchen, the aroma of afternoons, and the familial love shared around the table.

What we recognize today in everyday packaging is, in reality, the echo of an ancient legacy. This work reminds us that, long before becoming an icon of contemporary popular culture, this food already belonged to Indigenous wisdom. It is the heritage of the dough made from corn, a sacred seed that has sustained life, resilience, and the identity of our land throughout the centuries and that travels with us wherever we go.
